At home With Pauline Gandolfini | Season 3 - Episode 1

Hello Pauline, can you introduce yourself?

Hi, I'm Pauline, a content creator. I'm passionate about fashion, beauty, home decor, travel and meeting new people, and I try to convey all that through my Instagram account and blog. In parallel, I created my swimwear brand, ILIOS, born of my love for summer, light and the Greek islands, and above all, my passion for fashion and swimwear.

How would you define your interior style? What inspires you?

A clean, minimalist style with spaces that breathe. Light tones, warmed by walnut and/or touches of color. My inspirations are quite broad, coming from my travels most of the time. I love everything mineral, as well as contemporary design.

What's the link between your interior and your style?

Less is more. Never overdo it, but buy the right pieces that last and that you can mix endlessly without ever getting tired of them.

How did you go about designing your apartment and its spaces?

In order to have spaces that were 100% to our taste, we chose to make all the furniture in the apartment to measure, from the hallway to the dressing room, including the bedrooms and kitchen. Most importantly, I wanted a large living room with an open kitchen, so that I could regularly welcome guests and not be isolated in the kitchen when I'm entertaining. The central island is really one of my favorite features, because it's where I get together with my family and friends to remake the world at the same time as I'm cooking. Then for the master bedroom, I wanted a cosy, uncluttered yet warm space. That's why the whitewashed wall and khaki linen sheets warm up the whole room.

How important is interior design in your daily life?

It's so important to feel at home, to create your own cocoon. For me, that means having an interior that reflects who you are, with beautiful pieces. It's important to take the time to find the right piece that will make me feel even better at home.

Do you have a lot of vintage pieces in your home? What's your relationship with vintage?

I love vintage, but I don't know how to hunt for beautiful pieces. I know it's time-consuming, you have to know what to look for and where to find it, and I don't have the patience at all, although I've tried! But it's a pity, because I love the idea of knowing that the piece has already lived a history before belonging to us, and it gives a lot of charm and character to a more contemporary interior.

What do you love about NV GALLERY? What's your favorite piece?

I like the fact that I can find designer furniture at affordable prices compared with what you find on the design market. The pieces are timeless, and the inspirations are always inspiring. The collections are produced in small quantities to avoid overproduction. As for my favorite piece, I hesitate between the little PLATON armchair I have in my bedroom, which I love for its rounded lines and cosy seat, or the PALETA coffee table in solid wood.

What's the one design piece you couldn't live without at home?

My sofa, without a doubt. It's the centerpiece of the living room and the very first one we bought the day we signed the lease.

What's your typical day like? How do you manage your various activities?

There's no such thing as a typical day in my job. No two days are alike, and depending on the time of year, things can vary. But if I were to try and define a typical day, in the morning I take the time to have breakfast. Instagram messages and comments. Then I deal with my emails and the day follows on from brand appointments, shoots, lunches with a girlfriend or my collaborators. Then I get home, process the e-mails, the content, and send everything off for validation. I plan my editorial schedule according to my publication schedule. In the evenings I often have dinners or events, but it varies according to the period. I always try to keep myself at least one or two evenings a week at home with my sweetie for a romantic dinner or a good series. At the same time, I manage ILIOS, my swimwear brand, so there's a lot of back and forth with the factory, suppliers and my stylist, but I'm in partnership with my boyfriend, so it's a great adventure for both of us.

What's your current obsession? A book, a website, a film, an address, a recent discovery... that you'd like to share with us?

I love to read, but I only manage to take the time when I'm on vacation or on a plane! And right now, I've decided to take the time to read every night, so that I don't go to bed right after the screens. My current obsession: Intuitio by Laurent Gounelle, an author I adore, who fascinates me with his optimistic vision of humanity.
