In Situ Episode 3 - Mercure Hotel de Troyes

- Can you give us an overview of the facility?

The renovation project was carried out by ABP Architectes. The Mercure de Troyes is a 4-star hotel located close to the city center. It has 73 rooms, 4 seminar rooms, a bar and a terrace open to the public.

- Could you tell us about your renovation project?

The hotel is a historic building much appreciated by Trojan citizens: the Poron factory, a symbol of the development of the Trojan economy. The project was imagined in relation to its past as a former spinning mill. The theme of the spinning mill and the weaving loom is the common thread running through the architectural concept, from the lobby to the bedrooms. The design of the spaces is guided by a soft, cottony and enveloping ambience. The outdoor courtyard has also been reconfigured as a space for living and sharing.

- What role has design played in the Mercure's history?

Today, the AccorHotels group claims a "local" design for its Mercure brand, based on the diversity of its locations. In their quest for a memorable experience, franchised hoteliers will be able to design bespoke rooms and common areas.

- What were your inspirations for this project?

The building was once the Poron factory, which specialized in hosiery. The central bar reinterprets the figure of the loom and irrigates all the hotel's spaces, from the lobby to the seminar rooms, with a cottony theme. The furnishings play with beige, cream and pastel tones and textures.

- What do you think of NV GALLERY?

NV GALLERY offers very attractive products, with a great deal of variety in the lines of the furniture. The range of fabrics is expanding, and this gives way to some very nice furniture variants.

- What's your favorite piece at NV GALLERY?

Looking closely at the project, and knowing that this piece was put in every room of the hotel, I'd say without hesitation: the GIULIA armchair. Its round, enveloping design in ecru bouclette blended perfectly with the cottony atmosphere of the converted former spinning mill.
