SEASON 5 - EPISODE 2
At home with Looknatamélie
[NVG] Hello Amélie! Can you tell us a bit more about yourself, who you are and what you do in life?
I’m Amélie, I’m 40 years old. I’ve been with my husband, the father of my three children, for 20 years…
I’ve been a content creator for over ten years now. We recently left Corsica to settle in the beautiful city of Angers. It’s a new chapter for our family, in this brand-new home…
[NVG] What made you fall in love with this hôtel particulier in Angers?
It was a true love at first sight from the very first visit…
That spiral staircase, so elegant and vertiginous, almost mysterious… I think it gives the house real character.
There’s also the high ceilings, the moldings, the original parquet flooring, the marble fireplaces in every room… That Haussmann-style architecture we love so much, which completely contrasts with our house in Corsica. It also meant embracing a brand-new interior atmosphere. I couldn’t wait.
[NVG] When you first stepped inside, what was your vision for this space?
I wanted to mix styles while deeply respecting the soul of the place.
Of course, preserving the charm of the old was essential: keeping the original features, refreshing without altering, simply enhancing.
In terms of decoration, I wanted to bring in a more contemporary, chic touch while staying within a fairly monochromatic palette, keeping the atmosphere minimal yet still warm.
[NVG] Were there any décor elements or NV GALLERY pieces you already knew you wanted to include?
Very quickly, the MIRA dining table became an obvious choice: its size, the option to extend it for dinners with all our loved ones, and its beautiful walnut tone…
It’s perfect for our daily family life, but also for hosting easily and often.
The SILENCE mirror in my bedroom as well. A large full-length mirror with a matte black frame, leaning on the floor, minimalist and contemporary. It structures the space while remaining very refined. It’s essential for my work, my looks, my makeup. I love the atmosphere it brings to our bedroom…
[NVG] What did you absolutely want to preserve from the soul of this hôtel particulier?
The warmth of the place.
From the very first visits, we felt good here. We stayed for hours with the children… On the day we signed, we even had a picnic in the middle of the living room.
The natural light, the generous volumes, the period details, the creaking parquet floors… All of it immediately gives you the feeling of being in a place with history. Preserving that soul was precious to us.
[NVG] What was the biggest challenge of this renovation, and what do you take away from it today?
Leaving Corsica, where we were so happy, was a major decision that would deeply impact our daily life. Everything was going to change, yet at the same time, it felt obvious. This city was calling us again. Angers is where my husband and I met over 20 years ago, and above all, we wanted to be closer to our eldest son, who had an amazing opportunity to begin living his dream here in Angers. For us, supporting him and watching him thrive here felt completely natural.
We found this property quite late and, administratively, the project was intense, especially with the banks. It was a huge financial commitment for us.
We had just over six months to completely renovate this three-story hôtel particulier. Thankfully, the company Artirenov was exceptional, and we were able to move in as planned before the children went back to school.
What do I take away from it? That when you have determination, make the right choices, truly believe in what you’re doing, and support one another as a family, you can go much further than you ever imagined.
[NVG] How would you describe your interior style today, and where do you find your inspiration?
I would describe my interior as simple, bright, almost quiet.
I love natural materials, airy spaces, very few objects but carefully chosen pieces. There’s a lot of air and a lot of light flowing through.
I’m mostly inspired by places that feel calming: sunlight gliding across a wall, wood that lives and develops a patina over time…
I’m also very inspired by hotels, where every detail contributes to creating a soft, warm and vibrant atmosphere.
Our home lives all day long to the rhythm of our children and our work, since we both work from home, but in the evening, we like to tidy everything up and restore its full elegance, even if just for one night.
[NVG] What was non-negotiable for you when designing this home for family life?
We absolutely had to add storage in every room, in the hallways, everywhere in the house, because there was none at all.
The second thing: I didn’t want any color on the walls. I prefer adding touches of color through decorative accessories, but not on the walls.
[NVG] Did you design certain spaces as true settings for your content creation?
Everything was thought through, as much as possible, to make our life easier but also my work. For me, the two are closely connected, since I work from home.
So yes, I chose neutral tones to leave room for all creative possibilities, and avoided visual clutter so we can move around easily or adapt the spaces depending on our needs.
[NVG] Did you design certain spaces as true settings for your content creation?
Our bedroom. It’s spacious, bright and calm. I like to practice yoga there in the morning and work there in the afternoon.
I work on my computer downstairs in the morning, then go upstairs in the afternoon to create content in our bedroom.
[NVG] Why did you choose NV GALLERY pieces, and what draws you to our universe?
NV GALLERY isn’t classic or traditional décor, and that’s exactly what I love. There’s that minimalist, elegant side, sometimes with a subtle vintage undertone in certain pieces, but always with character.
In every collection, there are strong pieces that can structure an interior on their own. I really love the mix of materials: wood, marble, metal. It instantly brings something refined and contemporary.
The result is chic, contemporary and warm, without feeling cold. I think the brand succeeds in offering highly refined design pieces with a true identity, while remaining more accessible than high-end luxury.
[NVG] Do you have a favorite NV GALLERY piece at home, and what makes it special?
My MIRA dining table, without hesitation.
We spend so much time around it, and above all, quality time. We laugh a lot with our children, have lunch together as a couple at midday, gather around it every evening…
It’s truly part of our daily life. It’s beautiful, but above all, it lives with us. And for me, that’s what matters most.
